When looking into photography / painting with dyslexics I did not find much that was relevant which is good because it means I am developing something new. However I did discover the Arts Dyslexia Trust website who are a UK based international charity focussing on the visual-spatial abilities as demonstrated in the talented work of dyslexics. At the moment their quote of the week is:
“Drawing makes you see things clearer, and clearer, and clearer still. The image is passing through you in a physiological way, into your brain, into your memory – where it stays – its transmitted by your hands”.
My idea to ask dyslexic university students to write and draw upon the images they’ve taken links to this idea that some dyslexics find it easier to communicate through a visual language.
