These photographs record my sister getting ready for her prom. There is a saying ‘The camera never lies’ BUT it is not possible to guess, by looking at the happy, smiling faces, the huge shadows lying over their shoulders. Her operation is the following day. As well there are two other people in the group who have scoliosis and everywhere we looked there was a constant reminder of what was going happen tomorrow.

I chose to shot in black and white because i wanted to capture a moment in time, removing all colour as in a historic moment.
